About SlowCookerScience.com

SlowCookerScience.com was founded by Rachel Dunmore, a home cooking instructor and recipe developer who has spent 8 years teaching slow cooker technique to busy home cooks.

About Rachel Dunmore

Rachel started teaching cooking classes focused on quick weeknight meals, and found that slow cooker technique came up constantly — students owned slow cookers but felt uncertain about converting recipes, troubleshooting watery results, or adapting cook times. She began developing dedicated slow cooker curriculum to address this gap.

Over the past 8 years, she has:

  • Taught slow cooker technique classes to hundreds of home cooking students
  • Tested hundreds of recipes across multiple slow cooker brands, sizes, and wattages
  • Developed a systematic approach to converting conventional recipes for slow cooker use
  • Helped countless home cooks troubleshoot common slow cooker problems like watery sauces and unevenly cooked meat

Our Approach

Every guide on SlowCookerScience.com is based on actual tested results across multiple slow cooker models, not assumptions about how slow cookers “should” behave. We focus on the specific mechanics that produce good results, not vague generalizations.
